Sailing along the Grand Canal is an unmissable opportunity for experiencing the history and beauty of Venice

Hotel Cristallo in Venice Lido is very convenient for visiting the town's treasures.

For example we recommend you take water boat no.1 and cross the whole town in roughly an hour, sailing all along the Grand Canal lined by a wealth of historical palaces.

Fab Budget Hotel
Perfect location on the main road on the Lido. 5 min walk to the water bus to Venice. Rooms clean and freshly decorated. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast good with lots of choice and fresh pastries. Staff very chatty and helpful.
Perfect location
Great hotel in a perfect location on Lido di Venezia. Good breakfast, bread rolls, speck, cheeses, yogurt, cake, coffee, juices. Overall an excellent choice. The two Andreas are wonderful. Ask for restaurant recommendations--they will put you off the beaten path to places only locals go, which will keep you away from the tourist traps and you will eat very well.
Just Great!
Just great, central location at the Lido, 5 minutes to the Vaporetto that takes you to Venice and 5 minutes to the historic beaches at the Lido. Wonderful breakfast in a room with access to a small garden, courteous staff and clean rooms, clear value for the money
A Family hotel
Easy vaporetto trip into Venice and also a short walk to a great swimming beach. My 8 year old daughter loved it. Staff were very helpful.

Venice’s hall of fame

Venice's Grand Canal mirrors the town's ancient cultural and artistic splendour. The local aristocracy and most outstanding families knew how to stand out of the crowd throughout the centuries ruled by the ancient Maritime Republic: the secret was building a Palace along the Grand Canal bigger and more beautiful than the others, in order to assert the supremacy of their own power.

Therefore, every nook and cranny of the Grand Canal deserves a close look and the colours and architecture turn visitors into time travellers.  Generally there is no pavement lining such dwellings, as they directly overlook the canal, hence you can admire them only if you treat yourself to an enjoyable gondola ride or catch the water boat.

Events along the Canal Grande
The locals are really attached to their Grand Canal, which indisputably widely contributes to the global appeal of Venice. That is why they regularly honour it with events which are obviously inspired to the rich and precious heritage of Venice and of the Grand Canal.
The Regata Storica pageant, first Sunday in September
This highly evocative competition-pageant is held every year in early September, which is hence an ideal period for planning your hotel holiday in Venice Lido.   Prior to the race involving classic Venetian vessels, the Pageant revokes the coming of the Queen of Cyprus, with gondoliers and the Doges’ official galley.
The feast day of Madonna della Salute
On 21 November Venice commemorates the terrible 1630 plague and the heaven intervention of Virgin Mary.   On such occasion a special pontoon is built over the Gran Canal to reach Campo della Salute square where the celebrations take place.
